Can something as simple as a frozen turkey burger really taste amazing, AND save you money, AND help you eat healthier? The answer is a resounding: YES!

Stretch Your Dollar By Making It Homemade

Ditch the premade, storebought, can’t-pronounce-the-ingredients patties!

Convenience just isn’t worth the price of mediocre food.

When you learn to stock up on pantry staples, shop in bulk for meat, and roll up your sleeves to meal prep a big batch, you’ll begin to see the savings add up fast!

Improve Flavor and Home-make it Healthy!

Making your own food at home gives you full control over the flavor and ingredients of your food.

You can easily avoid all the added sugars, preservatives, sodium, and harmful dyes.

Start With An Easy and Delicious Recipe

The recipe at the end of this post is one of my family’s favorite summer staples! We always have these frozen turkey burgers on hand in the freezer, ready to thaw at a moment’s notice.

Some days, life gets in the way of my cooking plans, and these are quick to thaw and grill up, saving the day when I’m pressed for time.

If company drops by, these are always a guaranteed crowd-pleaser, and an easy pivot from our meal plan for 4.

And some days the weather is just perfect for grilling out and having a backyard picnic!

Health It Up and Stretch It Further

These healthful additions not only jazz up the flavor profile of your frozen turkey burgers, they bulk up your mix so you can make more patties!

Try one or more of these awesome add-ins:

  • Spinach: add 1 cup of baby spinach leaves, finely chopped
  • Mushrooms: add 4 oz of mushroom stems and pieces, drained and minced
  • Cauliflower: add 1 cup of fresh cauliflower florets, finely diced
  • Quinoa: add 1/2 cup of cooked quinoa (this Roland Mediterranean flavor is my fave!)

Hack! Add a Dent for a More Even Cook & Quicker Thaw

This happy kitchen hack is an important step before freezing or cooking your frozen turkey burgers!

Once shaped into a round patty, use your thumb to press an indentation into the center on one side.

This helps the turkey burger retain its shape instead of shrinking while cooking.

It also speeds thawing, and ensures that the center is fully thawed before cooking.

Freeze The Extras for Future Easy Meals

Unless you’re feeding an army on the spot (we won’t judge!) this recipe is going to make more burger patties than you can eat right away. In fact, with the ingredients below, you’ll be making 12-16 turkey burger patties.

You could grill them all up right away and stash the leftovers in the fridge for about a week.

Or you could just cook up the ones you need for now and save the rest to cook up to 6 months later!

To get perfectly uniform, evenly weighted, quarter-pound frozen turkey burgers every time, you’ve gotta try this!
